The place only has accommodations for 6 people who can live on site in a hut. Advance reservations are needed and interested people have to meet at a scheduled place in Quemado, New Mexico. The Lightning Field is meant to be viewed in isolation so the hut does lack many modern amenities.
Staying overnight is also allowed but only for one night. Additionally, you cannot bring your pets nor are you allowed to go camping on the land. Despite the isolation, many people have said the experience was worth it.

The cabin accommodates up to six guests three bedrooms and two baths. Visitors may request one to six spots for their reservation. If vaccination status is not confirmed, if any member of the group has a known exposure to COVID or positive COVID test result preceding their visit within a time frame that could cause risk of exposure to other guests or staff, or if proof of a negative COVID test is not submitted for each guest, Dia reserves the right to cancel the reservation.
We ask that visitors follow masking and social distancing guidelines while in common areas of the visitor cabin. All visitors must comply with state, local, and federal COVID regulations current at their time of travel. The Lightning Field is located in a very remote part of western New Mexico. Healthcare facilities are not available locally, with the nearest hospitals located about a two-hour journey from the cabin location.
There is no Wi-Fi or internet service at the cabin, and cellular service is extremely limited and spotty. The actual cost of maintaining The Lightning Field and accommodating visits greatly exceeds visitor fees.
